How We Approach a Problem

Our approach is simple: Learn. Plan. Produce. Please.

Learn.

All of our web sites begin with research. We research the competition, the community, and you.

We start by seeing what other businesses in your neighbourhood, city, the rest of Canada, and the world are doing to attract attention online. We look at who your customers are and how they use the internet. Last, but not least, we look at you. We sit down with you to discuss not only what you want and need in a web site, but who you are. We want the web site to reflect the your organisation.

While the research is an exhaustive and ongoing process, most of it is done before we even meet for the first time. We can’t sell you on the best product if we don’t already have a good sense of what it should be.

Plan.

Planning is one of the most time-consuming steps in the production of a web site. While the process may be grueling, it helps us ensure that we don’t make mistakes down the road, which ultimately keeps costs down. If we work out all the details before production begins, then major changes can be eliminated. Planning includes meeting with clients, building hierarchies, wireframes, and mockups before the actual site is constructed.

Produce.

Our production phase has two driving forces: Design and Development. While the skin, or front end of the site is being built and tested, the back end is also being produced. Both pieces are brought together once they are working on their own. This process cuts down on turnaround time, and lets the designers and developers work independently with their specialized skills. During the process, we are always updating the client with our progress, and we set several checkpoints in place to ensure that the scope of the project doesn’t stray from what you intended.

Please.

Once the site is fully functional, it is given to the client for a test drive. Our goal is to make the customer happy. If they aren’t satisfied with an aspect of the site, we go back and fix it.

We want to build a superior product for our client, but we also want to keep them happy with all aspects of the project. This means sticking to deadlines and budget. We do two things to make sure we always hit the mark in respect to these concerns. We always try to overestimate how much work is required. We will never finish over budget. We also try to overestimate our time (and yours). We give as much extra time as possible for you to make decisions, and we always aim to finish the project ahead of schedule.
